What clients say:
I’m grateful when clients choose to share their experience of counselling. The feedback below is shared with permission and anonymised to protect confidentiality.
After EMDR, one client described the negative thoughts they had carried about past experiences as:
“Like a burst flat balloon — no use and only fit for being discarded.”
Previously, those thoughts had felt like a huge burden — something carried constantly, almost like a default setting.
Now, they described those same thoughts as "having no bearing on their life, with the space they once occupied being filled by much more positive thoughts".
They went on to say:
“Amazing how something so simple can have a huge impact and result in turning someone’s life 180 degrees.”
EMDR doesn’t erase the past. But for some people, it can change the emotional weight attached to past experiences — so that memories which once felt overwhelming no longer have the same power in the present.

My son was suffering from OCD alongside autism, and we were looking for the right support. We were recommended Alison, and from the very first meeting we knew she was going to be our saving angel.
My son appreciated Alison’s support, communication, and understanding of his feelings, thoughts, and fears. She just got him. He responded amazingly well within just a few appointments and actually enjoyed going to his sessions.
Alison hasn’t just helped my son—she has also helped me as a parent understand him so much better and given us all techniques and strategies to move forward. The whole family has benefited.
It has been the best decision we have made, and I only wish we had done it sooner. I can’t recommend Alison highly enough
I honestly can't recommend Alison enough. I have been doing counselling with Alison and more recently done EMDR sessions, which i initially felt nervous about because i didn't know what to expect. But Alison explained everything so well and always made sure I felt safe and in control. She never rushed me and always worked at a pace that felt right for me.
EMDR has honestly helped me more than I ever thought it would. I feel like it just clicked something to help change my mindset and beliefs and I feel like I understand myself so much better now. Some sessions were really hard, but I always felt supported and knew Alison was there to guide me through it.
I'm so grateful for everything Alison has helped me through. Looking back, I can see just how far I've come and how my mindset has completely changed. If you're thinking about therapy or wondering whether EMDR could help, I'd absolutely recommend Alison.
From the very beginning Alison made me feel listened to, understood, and never judged. She created a safe and supportive space where I could open up. Alison is so kind and caring and has supported me through difficult times in my life whilst continuing to help me navigate situations i have been struggling with for a long time. I'm so grateful for Alison and really do feel like everyone needs an Alison in their lives! | would highly recommend her to anyone thinking about counselling
“Alison has been an absolute lifesaver. She helped me through the most difficult time of my life and supported me in ways I never thought possible.
She helped me understand how my mind works, how my experiences have affected me, and gave me practical tools to help me not just survive — but truly thrive.
Alison is warm, kind, and incredibly supportive. She creates a safe, calm space where it’s easy to open up.
I would 100% recommend Alison to anyone.”
