How I work
What to Expect
First Session
We explore what has brought you to counselling and what you hope for. There is no pressure to share more than feels safe.
Ongoing Sessions
We move at your pace. Some people want space to process; others prefer structure. We decide together.
I believe the relationship between us matters most. Feeling safe, respected and understood is where change can begin
My Approach
I work pluralistically, which means I don’t believe there is one type of therapy that works for everyone. We are all different, and counselling should reflect that.
I will work collaboratively with you to understand what you would like to change and what might help. Some people value having a safe space to talk and be heard, while others prefer practical strategies, greater understanding of their thoughts and emotions, or a more structured approach.
I draw on a range of therapeutic approaches and adapt our work to suit you. My practice is trauma-informed and attachment-aware, and I have particular experience and interest in working with trauma, neurodivergence, autism and ADHD.
Depending on what is helpful for you, I may draw from person-centred counselling, CBT, ACT, transactional analysis, psychodynamic and attachment-based ideas, psychoeducation and practical strategies. I am trained in EMDR and can integrate it into our work where appropriate.
Most importantly, you don’t need to know what kind of counselling you need before you come. We can work that out together.
I offer a space where you can be fully yourself — without judgement.
Confidentiality
Everything you share is confidential, within professional and safeguarding guidelines. I will explain this clearly in our first session.
